
My name is Katy Emerson and I am a BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, Supervisor & Trainer with considerable experience supporting people to manage and resolve their psychological and emotional distress.
I am trained in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which is my main therapeutic approach, but I have also undertaken further training in Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT).
I have previously worked for a local NHS Primary Care Mental Health Support Service (PCMHSS) and within the NHS England Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services, delivering time-limited, evidence-based therapy for adults (16+) experiencing mild to severe common mental health difficulties.
I am experienced in supporting individuals with a wide range of difficulties including specific phobias, panic, general anxiety, health anxiety, depression, stress, social anxiety, trauma (PTSD), obsessive compulsive disorder and long-term physical health conditions, amongst other problems.
I also currently work as a Lecturer at a local university across the PgCert and PgDip in Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, teaching and supervising.
I am additionally Deputy Chair for the local BABCP committee branch.

I am a recognised Fellow with Advance Higher Education.
I am fully cleared by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
